In her second six months of pupillage, Taya is supervised by Gillian McCall, working on both business and personal matters. She assists on immigration cases covering categories such as, Innovator Founder, Skilled Worker, Representative of an Overseas Business and Global Talent. She has helped with Skilled Worker Sponsor Licence applications (including self-sponsorship). Taya has also assisted on visit visa applications and Judicial Reviews. She works on settlement and citizenship applications as well as applications for spouses, fiancées, unmarried partners and children under Appendix FM. 

Prior to being supervised by Ms McCall, Taya was supervised by Alexandra Pease and worked closely with Alex Papasotiriou during her first six months of pupillage. Taya assisted on personal immigration matters focusing on nationality, human rights and asylum matters. She assisted on Adult Dependent Relative applications and appeals, Article 8 ECHR appeals concerning the right to respect for private life and family life, spouse and unmarried partner applications, settled status applications under Appendix EU and applications for children wishing to be registered as British citizens.

Whilst at university, Taya volunteered and led a society which welcomed refugees and asylum seekers into Welsh communities. She was responsible for organising English Conversation Classes, leading and supporting volunteers and those participating in the classes, campaigning, fundraising and organising educational events for the public. She has also worked as a paralegal in an Employment law firm helping with cases particularly focused on discrimination and unfair dismissal.

Taya was also a volunteer with Cardiff University’s Innocence Project, which re-investigates cases where individuals may have been wrongfully convicted. During her time with the Innocence Project, Taya also provided research support for Joint Enterprise Not Guilty by Association’s Appeals Project, an organisation working to change the law relating to Joint Enterprise.
